The New Orleans Saints have quite a bit of firepower on offense heading into the 2023 season, especially with adding running backs Jamaal Williams and Kendre as well as taking wide receiver A.T. Perry in the sixth round.
Although they weren't a good team as a whole last season the Saints finished fifth in total defense and only allowed 20.3 points per game. It's no secret who was one of the main catalysts for that high-level defensive performance last year.
Linebacker Demario Davis has been with the Saints for five seasons and hasn't registered under 100 tackles in any. Davis was recently named one the best players on Saints, and now Pro Football Focus has ranked him as the third-best off-ball linebackers in the NFL after Fred Warner of the San Francisco 49ers and Lavonte David of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
"Davis, like David, has graded out above 70.0 in every season since 2017, with his 2022 mark of 82.7 being the second highest of his career as well."-Trevor Sikkema, PFF
Davis patrols sideline-to-sideline with the best linebackers in the league which helps him be an absolute monster against the run and he has skills in pass coverage. Also, Davis gets after the quarterback with 36 career sacks (22.5 with the Saints), 224 pressures, and 130 hurries.
Davis has been named an All-Pro for four consecutive seasons and the 34-year-old doesn't seem to be slowing down any time soon.
