When the New York Giants traded up in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft to select Deonte Banks, they did so in search of a franchise cornerstone in the secondary.

And while time will tell if Banks can live up to that expectation, he's started off with a bang in rookie minicamp.

So let's look at what Banks had to say following the minicamp circuit, specifically as it relates to the Giants' coaching staff.

Here is an inside look at the question and answers that Banks had after minicamp wrapped up:
Q. "What's been your first impression of Coach Daboll and the coaching staff, just getting you acclimated here?"
Banks: "I like it. I like the coaches, I like how they coach me. It's real smooth. It's real good."

Obviously, both Banks and the Giants are in the honeymoon stage of their relationship, but Banks didn't have to add the addition that the process was smooth. That speaks volumes, as it points to the type of program that Daboll is running in New York.

While it may seem that multi-billion dollar companies should operate as such, look no further than divisional foe Washington and the type of culture they have endured over the past decade.

Players know what a good system is, and what isn't so it's good to see Banks note that off the top. Beyond questions about the coaching, however, Banks offered some other nuggets including:

Q: "You grew up watching the Ravens. How easy was it for you to go out there and kind of execute what (Defensive Coordinator) Wink Martindale was asking you to do?"
Banks: "They play a lot of man, so if you know me, you know how I play man."

Q: "Are you planning to sign your contract this weekend?"
Banks: "No, I don't know that."
Now this nugget was interesting, as it doesn't point to a dispute, but it could be something to watch down the road, given the pertinency of the situation.

Q. "You’re the first-rounder. I'm sure all eyes are on you being the alpha out here. Is there a lot on that?"
Banks: "I feel like there's no pressure on me. I'm just ready to work."

That's good to hear from Banks, as the limelight, the money, and the free time can all be overwhelming for anybody, especially first-round picks. With organized team activities, full-team minicamp, and training camp up next, we will learn more about Banks the person, but certainly the player in the coming months.
