The Philadelphia Eagles got as close as a team can to winning a Super Bowl without pulling it off. The closing moments of that game will haunt Philly fans for years to come.
The good news for these fans and the team is that redemption could be on the horizon. The current team is good enough to finally win the championship again, but it will take getting through a difficult schedule that has a very challenging stretch.
There may be a bye baked into the middle, but Week 9 to Week 14 is going to define the season for the Eagles. There is no way around it.
Two games against the Cowboys, the defending Super Bowl champs, the AFC darlings in the Bills, and the NFC runner ups is pretty jarring.
The Cowboys are never a walk in the park due to the rivalry. The Chiefs still have the best player in the league. The Bills have the weapons to be one of the best teams in the NFL. Finally, the 49ers may not have much at quarterback, but it is hard to find other teams that are constructed as well as San Francisco.
Having these games back-to-back with just one week off in the middle is going to be brutal. Any injuries or time missed is going to complicate matters dramatically, and the chances of this happening goes up due to the higher levels of competition in these games.
The Eagles don't have to win all of these games to show that they have the legs to make a run in the playoffs and finally win the Super Bowl, but winning at least three and keeping the other games close feels like the bare minimum for such a talented team.
