Recruiting has been picking up lately for the Tennessee Vols.
On Saturday, the Vols picked up a commitment from four-star running back Peyton Lewis, Tennessee's seventh commitment since the end of March.
The Vols currently have the No. 8 recruiting class in the nation and they're trending for several key recruits.
One of the recruits that Tennessee is trending for is 2024 four-star defensive lineman Kameryn Fountain.
On Sunday, 247Sports director of recruiting Steve Wiltfong placed a "crystal ball" prediction for the Vols to land a commitment from Fountain.
Fountain, 6-foot-5/237 lbs from Atlanta, GA, is ranked in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 6 edge rusher in the nation and the No. 7 player in the state of Georgia. He's also rated as the No. 50 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class.
The Georgia native took an official visit to Tennessee this past weekend and he told 247Sports after his visit that UT is his top school.
“They’re my top right now,” said Fountain to 247Sports. “They were there from the start from when I first started playing and they watched me grow. My biggest takeaways was that Tennessee, it was more than football. Football eventually has to end one day, they made it seem there is more outside of football. What I like about the program is they got things setup for after they get done. The coaches, we don’t talk just about football.”
Landing an elite player from the state of Georgia would be a huge win for Tennessee. Fountain is the type of player that the Vols need to compete with the Bulldogs and the other top teams in the nation. Securing a commitment from Fountain would just further show that Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel was serious when he said earlier this offseason that the Vols are going to play "elite defense".
