Injuries were an achilles heel for New Orleans Saints rookie offensive tackle Trevor Penning last season. As he heads into his sophomore season, he is working his ways back from a Lisfranc injury that ended his season in the team's final game last year. He's taken a major step forward, according to a bit of investigative journalism.

The Saints posted pictures from the team's attendance at a community outreach event. Penning has gotten rid of his walking boot that he had been in for quite a while due to his foot injury from last season.

It's noteworthy as Penning will compete for a starting OT spot for New Orleans this season. If he can earn it, you have to be very confident in the entire starting line for the Saints. The other four starters are set in stone, and their depth is improved after adding players like rookie OL Nick Saldiveri and veteran OT Storm Norton.

There's a bit of pressure on Penning to bounce back and stay healthy this season. The Saints spent heavy draft capital to secure him, but it looks like he's headed in the right direction.
