49ers GM reveals the one team he fears following the 2023 NFL Draft
San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch revealed what team he fears most following the draft.
Though San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch would love to admit he is proud of his selections in the 2023 NFL Draft, there is one team he feels had a great draft that he fears is getting better.
That team? The Seattle Seahawks. Lynch praised the Seahawks and admitted that he absolutely views them as a threat in the NFC West.
"We feel the Seahawks coming," Lynch said, via 49ers Zone. "They're really good. They had a really good draft last year. I think they've repeated it this year."
Seattle enjoyed an extra first-round selection thanks to the Russell Wilson trade. The Seahawks used those picks on Devon Witherspoon and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Both are players the national media was raving about, and Lynch got in on the praise of Seattle's 2023 draft strategy.
"Well, I'll say this, [Seahawks GM] John Schneider is as good at this job as anybody in our league," Lynch said. "And so you always know you're going to have competition with he and Pete Carroll, the way they work together, and they do it really well. They've kind of reinvented themselves numerous times."
Though Lynch knows Seattle will be an even better team in 2023, he is choosing to focus on what he can control — the 49ers — and ignoring the rest of the outside noise.
"The most important thing is that we continue to focus on ourselves, and I think we continue to make our roster better," Lynch said. "I think this draft class will only add to that. And we're excited about our football team."
The NFC West promises to be a blood bath during the 2023 season. But in the end, Lynch is confident that his team will come out on top, again.
