The Minnesota Vikings move one step closer to completing an important step early in the offseason.
The Vikings signed the first member of their 2023 draft class in DT Jacquelin Roy on Monday. As of Friday, Roy now has company after Minnesota announced it had signed three more members of GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah’s second draft class.
CB Mekhi Blackmon (Round 3, No. 102)
The Vikings inked Blackmon to the standard four-year rookie contract after selecting him with their second pick in the draft. Blackmon, who sought out Vikings first-round wide receiver Jordan Addison every day in practice during their time together at USC, figures to play a major role in Brian Flores’ secondary, whether that be as a rotational player or a starter on the outside.
S Jay Ward (Round 4, No. 134)
The Vikings signed Ward to a four-year worth $4.493 million, including a $653,544 signing bonus, per Aaron Wilson. Ward, another defensive back selected with Flores’ fingerprints on the pick, provides depth at safety behind starters Camryn Bynum and an aging Harrison Smith.
QB Jaren Hall (Round 5, No. 164)
Hall also signed a four-year deal with Minnesota at a value of $4.11 million. He possesses next-level traits which translate to a high ceiling. Drafted in the fifth round, Minnesota isn’t putting a ton of pressure on Hall as he is set to join a QB room of Kirk Cousins and Nick Mullens.
The Vikings now have two draft picks who have yet to be signed. Those players are Jordan Addison and seventh-round running back out of UAB DeWayne McBride. First-round picks typically are the last members of the draft class to sign, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see Minnesota hammer out the last two contracts over the next week.
