The start of the New York Giants season may still be nearly four months away, but it's never too early to prepare for what's to come.

Last week's schedule release proved that where I highlighted an unprecedented start to the Giants' schedule and a look at their most important games of the season.

Well, The Athletic pulled their NFL staff together to find the game most worthy of the must-watch label on every team's schedule. Here's why a battle for New York came out on top for the Giants:

We New York-centric folks hoped we’d be getting a Week 1 All-Big Apple showdown with Giants vs. the Jets in what would have been Aaron Rodgers’ Gang Green debut. Instead, the NFL decided to build the anticipation and give viewers Rodgers vs. Josh Allen to kick off the “Monday Night Football” slate. No matter, New York fans will be counting down the days to the rivals’ first meeting since 2019. It’s worth noting, Daniel Jones defeated Rodgers in London last season, though he was still playing for the Packers. Rodgers should have an upgraded supporting cast in New York, so he could get his revenge this time. — Charlotte Carroll

This game was always going to bring out the marker on the calendars of Giants and Jets fans alike, but add the flare of a future Hall of Famer in Aaron Rodgers, and it receives a whole new level of hype,

Now, just to tame the optimism, week eight approaches the dog days of the season, and both teams could already be out of favor in the playoff race if they get off to slow starts early in the season.

But if both teams live up to the expectations they have, this game could be one of the best of the season, as both rosters are full of youth and talent, even if the Jets have the more ready-made roster. The Giants have been in the playoffs more recently with the Jets on a 13-year drought.

The Giants own the all-time win record of the Jets, with an 8-6 win total over the course of their 14 games dating back to 1970. However, the Jets have won the last two matchups (2019, 2015) making the newest iteration of the battle for the "Big Apple" must-watch.
