The 2023 NFL season hinges on one person — Geno Smith.

Well, that is the truth, as Pro Football Focus puts it. In their post-draft and free agency power rankings, the Seattle Seahawks ranked No. 11 out of 32 teams. The question mark is Smith's inconsistency in the second half of the season. If he can overcome those struggles, Seattle's best-case scenario could be a record close to 11-6.

Take a look at the analysis for Seattle in PFF's rankings:

"The Comeback Player of the Year had an excellent 2022, but there are signs that regression could be coming. It’s challenging to repeat outlier-level deep ball performance year over year. The Seahawks should lean more on the run game and easier throws if they want to improve on last season’s success. Smith will also have to be more consistent. His passing grade in Weeks 1-8 last season was 84.4, third best in the NFL, but that number dropped to 64.0 in his last 10 games."

It is far from a guarantee that Smith can reclaim the form he was in during the first eight weeks of the 2022 NFL season. But his breakout campaign has fueled much of his desire to be even better in 2023. Through the draft, the Seahawks brought in more offensive weapons that should make his life easier. And with three difference-makers at wide receiver: D.K. Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seattle will not just be another formidable opponent — the Seahawks could be an offensive juggernaut.
