ESPN Poll ranks Steelers Kenny Pickett outside of NFL's top-10 quarterbacks

As quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Kenny Pickett had better get used to criticism, if he hasn't already.

Silencing the doubters is a part of the job description in the NFL, even if it's lower on the totem poll.

But speaking of polls, Kenny Pickett won't like the one that ESPN just released:

Not Even a Mention: Kenny Pickett

Today was likely the most anticipated release of Jermey Fowler’s annual survey. A senior reporter for ESPN, Fowler goes position by position, ranking the top 10 players as voted on by NFL personnel including coaches, executives, and evaluators.

Well, it's safe to say the league isn't exactly high on Pickett, as not only did he fail to make the top 10 list for quarterbacks, but he couldn't even garner an honorable mention, something the likes of Jared Goff, Derek Carr, and Tua Tagovailoa all accomplished.

Even the most die-hard Steelers fan would admit that the sample size of Pickett's career doesn't warrant a top-10 ranking to this point. But I don't know how big the gap between Pickett and Carr, or Pickett and Tua is, especially when we saw both of those quarterbacks go head-to-head with Pickett in 2022.

Now, one could say we knew this during Pickett's pre-draft process, with some in the evaluation community hypothesizing that Pickett would have continued to slide had the Steelers not pulled the trigger at 20th overall in 2022.

So maybe there has been a chip on his shoulder since then, or maybe even before dating back to his time at Pitt or in high school in New Jersey. Either way, extra motivation never hurts, and Pickett just received another dose.
