The Giants just shelved out a fairly hefty deal to Daniel Jones, ensuring continuity at the QB position for years to come.

But while the man taking the snaps will stay the same, the player within will need to evolve and grow if the Giants want to take the next step.

How does Daniel Jones do that? Former Giants Head Coach and two-time Super Bowl winner Bill Parcells knows how:

The former captain of the ship that saw the Giants capture not one, but two Super Bowls during his tenure, Hall of Fame HC Bill Parcells stopped by practice at mandatory minicamp on Monday. He had a broad message for the team, but he made sure to pull QB Daniel Jones aside and relay a personal one:

Q. What did (Former Giants Head Coach Bill) Parcells talk to you about after practice?

DANIEL JONES: Just about accountability. You know, talking about what makes a team great and what tests a team in a season and staying close, staying together, taking accountability for your role on the team. I think it was a great message.

Jones is known around the locker room for being quiet but when he speaks, players listen. He is a subtle but unquestioned leader and while he doesn't have an ora about him that screams New York, his work ethic and by all regards, accountability is through the roof:

Q. You've been around Daniel (Jones), do you think the contract, is there any chance it will change him at all or put more pressure on him?

STERLING SHEPARD: No. If you know anything about Daniel, that guy is the hardest worker no matter what the situation is. I expect him to have the mentality of, I'm going to show everybody why I deserve this money, and I mean, he's always approached the game and practiced day-to-day work with the right mindset. I'm looking forward to seeing him out there balling.

Jones has to prove that he's worth the money to those across the NFL media and within the Giants fanbase but the men that go to work with him every day already know who he is:

Q. (Sterling Shepard) Shep was just talking about how guys, sometimes in the off-season when they get a new contract, come in with a little money swag. You might have a little bit, but what's Daniel's? (Jones)

DEXTER LAWRENCE: Still coming in every morning and staying late at night. Daniel is a grinder. Guy like that, he has good traits. I don't even think he has swag to begin with (laughter). You all see him, you just talked to him, he's just Daniel.

So if were to take his teammates' word for it, we can see that Jones is already excelling in the all-important intangible that Parcells is preaching. It's only late spring or early summer meaning we won't know just how accountable Jones is until the Giants hit a rough patch this fall.

But if we learned anything thus far, New York fans can rest assured knowing their signal caller is well respected where it matters.
