The Broncos have been in the dark for six or seven years. They haven't done anything good since they won the Super Bowl; not one playoff appearance, and only one winning season, which came in 2016. They have been a franchise that has been through a lot since being at the top of the mountain.
Part of that darkness has come from losing to one of the biggest rivals in their franchise's history, the Kansas City Chiefs, who have beaten the Broncos too many times to count. The wins date back to before Patrick Mahomes was in the league.
Beating them in 2023 would be the start of getting this team out of the darkness they have been in for some time now. Mike Garafolo on Good Morning Football thinks the Broncos will soon beat the Chiefs.

Not only did he say that was the most important offseason mission for the Broncos, but he also said that Payton would win some games against the Chiefs, and that has to make Broncos fans beyond happy. 15 straight losses to the Chiefs have to hurt, and not to mention they are a team that could be forming a dynasty soon. You never want to see that from your rival.
Every game the two have played against each other the last few times has been close. This last year, even when the Broncos were terrible, they had a chance to win both. The Broncos showed their best offensive performance in their first game against Kansas City when they scored 21 straight points. We could see them win a game against them in 2023.
