The Denver Broncos' former starter detailed the next step for him in his career while potentially hinting that retirement may be close.

Last year was a tough one for former starting running back Melvin Gordon. No matter what he says, and I'm sure winning a ring feels great, 2022 was his worst season. He had a huge fumbling issue that cost the Broncos a few wins. The issue was so bad the team actually cut him.

Gordon, a near 1,000-yard rusher in 2021 and a former Pro Bowler ended up signing to the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad. He didn't play any snaps during their Super Bowl run, but he put in the work and helped them get to the top of the mountain through the scout team.

Gordon deserves his ring, even if he didn't do anything during the games. But now he has to figure out what's next for him. By the sound of it, he may be close to retiring, as he detailed what's next for him on Good Morning Football on Wednesday.

"Well, you know, I got the, I got a ring, so, the hard part is done. I'm just; I'm just looking for somewhere to play, man, you know, just have fun on the back end of things, you know, I just want to enjoy it [football] on the way out."

That sounds like a guy that is really close to hanging it up. He still has some tread left and may be good enough to be the RB2 on a team with that need. However, with the way the NFL world works against the running back position, his days as a starter may be over. The running back's shelf life isn't long, and if Gordon were to retire today, he would have been just eight years old.
