It's on, Tennessee fans.

The expected changes to Lindsey Nelson Stadium were just waiting approval from the University of Tennessee's Board of Trustees.  According to the man in charge of UT's athletic programs, that permission has been given.

UT athletic director Danny White thumbed out a tweet Friday afternoon indicating the board has granted approval, and Tennessee is finally cleared to begin a major overhaul to the facility.

Boom indeed.  According to WVLT, the revised budget figure for which approval was sought would be $95.8 million.  The renovations will reportedly include expanded seating, upgraded amenities such as restrooms and concession stands, and additional premium seating sections.

By way of comparison, WVLT noted that the new baseball stadium being built in Knoxville will be at a cost of $114 million as a brand-new complete build.  As such, this is going to be a very sizeable and extensive overhaul to Tennessee's baseball facility.

And that will be a major help in the event the Vols are stuck in a situation where they were this season.  Despite having a higher RPI and strength of schedule and more quad 1 wins, Tennessee was snubbed for hosting the super regional against Southern Miss.  Although the selection criteria were never released, it's hard to deny the advantage in stadium size and attendance as a driving reason why the Golden Eagles were selected as hosts.

No longer.  Now, Tennessee should have one of the premier facilities in the country.  And if Tony Vitello continues taking the program in the ascending direction it's heading, there should be plenty more opportunities for UT fans to experience postseason baseball in Knoxville in style.
