The New Orleans Saints shouldn't expect Derek Carr to come in and replace the past with Drew Brees. That's not realistic. Carr isn't Drew, and no one else is the former Saints legend at quarterback. That being said, Carr does have to come in and be an upgrade over the starters at QB for the Saints over the past couple of seasons.

He must provide consistency that Jameis Winston couldn't and upside that Andy Dalton did not possess for New Orleans. There's one area that brought some frustration to Saints fans a season ago. Third downs seemed impossible, but Carr is among the elite quarterbacks when it comes to converting some particular third downs.

Being alongside QBs like Hurts and Allen in this stat is important for the Saints. They cannot afford to suffer on third and medium conversions again this year. If they do, the offense won't reach nearly its potential.

Only seven QBs possessed better conversion rates than Carr last season. Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes are just a couple of those names above the new Saints starter. It will be intriguing to see if he can build on this impressive statistic this season and beyond for the Saints.
