New Orleans Saints tight end Juwan Johnson is one of the most underrated offensive weapons in the NFL. After a breakout season last year, he deserves som love from the national NFL media. He hasn't gotten too much of that. Instead, he's flown a bit under the radar, and the Saints probably don't mind that.

Johnson is set to have a career year in 2023, though. With the addition of Derek Carr, he becomes an incredibly intriguing tight end target because the former Raiders QB loves throwing to that position. Darren Waller became a star with Carr, and Johnson will look to do the same for the Saints.

It may surprise you, but Johnson was third among tight ends last year in receiving touchdowns. The Saints TE caught seven TDs. Only George Kittle of the 49ers and Chiefs TE Travis Kelce had more than him.

With more upside at QB, expect Johnson to evolve into a target at every level of the field for New Orleans this season. As for a Pro Bowl appearance, he will have stiff competition, but it is not out of the question. Three tight ends scurry to mind in the NFC besides Johnson. T.J. Hockenson, George Kittle, and Dallas Goedert are those three. Each have had their fair share of injuries in recent seasons, but they are ultra-talented.

It will be intriguing to see if Johnson can compete with them as a top TE in the conference. Don't write off the Saints tight end yet.
