The Chiefs-Cincinnati Bengals rivalry is about as good as it gets. Sure, the Chiefs have other rivalries that are older, as do other teams around the league, but they don't bring the same energy and excitement this one does.
It all started in 2021 when the Bengals beat the Chiefs thrice in one season. They let Kansas City hear about it, as they should. They beat the team you must beat to go to the Super Bowl—props to them.
Even after the Chiefs just beat the Bengals to go to the Super Bowl and win a ring, both teams are still trash-talking each other.
Recently Joe Burrow was asked who the best quarterback in the league was; he said Patrick Mahomes. Cool; nothing but respect there. Then Ja'Marr Chase was asked, and he said, "Pat, who?"
So Mahomes saw that, and during the ring ceremony, he posted a picture of his hand with two rings on and said, "That's who." Petty Pat was officially out. Now, there is a new layer to it all.
Travis Kelce recently stood up for his quarterback on his podcast, "New Heights."
"I thought it was a little bold," Travis Kelce said. "[Mahomes is] a two-time league MVP, two-time Super Bowl MVP. To say 'Pat who' is like. . ."
"It's a little disrespectful," Jason Kelce added in. "Pat didn't like it."
"It is what it is, dog," Travis Kelce said. "Who doesn't love some good locker room banter, man? Shoutout to Ja'Marr Chase for holding it down for his QB, but don't you ever disrespect Pat Mahomes now. If you want to talk your s___, talk your s___, pimp. Just better back it up."
These are the rivalries the NFL is made for.
