Tennessee Vols offensive lineman Darnell Wright is one of the top prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Wright impressed in 2022 after playing right tackle for the Vols in all 13 games (including the Orange Bowl, which decided not to skip) while allowing zero sacks.
The West Virginia native also had a nice showing at the NFL draft combine and the Senior Bowl which boosted his draft stock a bit.
During Wright's time at Tennessee, he was known as a player who kept his head down, worked hard, and let his play on the field do the talking.
But on Monday, Wright was forced to do some damage control for some comments he made.
A Cincinnati Bengals podcaster posted a screenshot of a direct message that Wright sent to him on Twitter.
Wright used some NFSW language in the message which centered around Willie Lutz, the Bengals podcaster, suggesting that Wright isn't suited to play left tackle in the NFL (Wright played left tackle for the Vols in all 13 games in 2021 and allowed three sacks).
Here's the message from Wright.

Shortly after Lutz posted the screenshot, Wright posted his own screenshot that showed him apologizing to Lutz.
Wright probably should've just ignored the comment from Lutz. But he's human and it can be tough to hear criticisms (especially criticisms that aren't necessarily accurate).
The former Vol let his emotions get the best of him. It happens. Most of the time we just don't see media members posting screenshots of direct messages or conversations with athletes (posting screenshots of direct messages is almost never a good idea).
Ultimately, Wright owned up to his mistake and he handled it the right way. If anything, this should make the former Vol more attractive to NFL teams. Wright is passionate and plays with a chip on his shoulder, but he's mature enough to own up to his mistakes. That's a trait that NFL teams should love.
