The Tennessee Vols had several memorable wins during their 11-2 campaign in 2022.

It's the win over Alabama — the Vols' first win against the Crimson Tide since 2006 — that stands out for most fans.

But surprisingly, that wasn't Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker's favorite moment of the 2022 season (though I'm sure it's right there at the top).

Hooker appeared on the "Locked on SEC" podcast earlier this year and he was asked about his favorite moment from the 2022 season.

And instead of going with the Alabama game, Hooker pointed out the Vols' overtime win on the road against Pittsburgh as his favorite moment of the year.

"That Pitt game," said Hooker when asked about his favorite moment from 2022. "Things weren't going our way at the beginning of the game. Came out a little sluggish. And we got into a little junk talking with some fans. And, you know, every moment after we decided, okay, we're settled in, we got our feet wet, let's go out here and dominate and play how we know how to play. And we did that. Finished strong."

Pittsburgh jumped out to a 10-0 lead against the Vols and it looked like they were about to go up 17-0 before Tennessee safety Trevon Flowers came down with a key interception in the end zone

If the Vols don't come back and beat Pittsburgh in overtime to improve to 2-0, who knows how the 2022 season plays out for Tennessee. Beating the Panthers in a game where things didn't always go the Vols' way gave Tennessee confidence that they could win on any given Saturday against any opponent.

And that mindset helped carry the Vols to their best season in 20 years.

I'd say it's understandable why Hooker loved that moment so much.
