The Kansas City Chiefs are in a nice spot ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Kansas City, the defending Super Bowl champions, doesn't have a lot of glaring needs which means they can afford to take some gambles in the draft later this month.

The Chiefs hold the No. 31 overall selection in the draft, which is the last pick in the first round (the Miami Dolphins had to forfeit their first-round pick).

CBS Sports made a bold suggestion this week for the Chiefs' first-round selection that might seem a little too bold for some fans.

But it might not be a bad idea.

CBS Sports suggested that Kansas City should trade up to take Texas running Bijan Robinson, a player that was described to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler by an AFC front office executive as a player that "might be the best player in the draft".

From CBS Sports: You never see teams trade up in the first round for a running back these days, but Robinson should be the exception for the Chiefs, especially if he falls into the 20s. Putting this generational talent in the backfield of a Patrick Mahomes-led offense that won't allow teams to stack the box is borderline unfair.

We all know that running backs have been dramatically devalued over the last decade, but Robinson is a special talent that could be a gamechanger in Kansas City's offense.

The Chiefs haven't had a true go-to running back since Kareem Hunt in 2017 (Hunt's 1,327 rushing yards in 2017 is the only time a Chiefs running back has topped 1,000 rushing yards).

Robinson's rushing abilities combined with the Chiefs' potent passing attack could make a seemingly unstoppable offense even more unstoppable.

Ultimately, I'd be extremely surprised if the Chiefs took this unsolicited advice. They'll probably go with a best player available approach, which is never a bad idea.

But if Robinson somehow falls to the Chiefs at No. 31, they shouldn't hesitate to scoop him up. He could truly take Kansas City's offense to another level.
