According to The Tennesseans's Mike Organ, the Tennessee Titans have recently taken interest in Nashville native and former Tennessee State tight end Josh Trueheart ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Once a standout quarterback at Stratford High School, Trueheart is now hoping for an opportunity to play at the next level after six years with the TSU program. With any luck, that chance may come with his hometown team.

Trueheart participated in the University of Tennessee's Pro Day last month and impressed the NFL scouts in attendance. Trueheart's performance earned him a pre-draft workout invitation from the Titans.

32 catches and 349 receiving yards in his collegiate career do not tell the full story for Trueheart. If the Titans or any other NFL team decides to draft and/or sign Trueheart, it will not be because of the numbers in the stat sheet. It will be because the team sees potential in his size, athleticism, and skillset.

Trueheart is 6-foot-5 and 254 pounds with a 31-inch vertical and 4.70 40-yard dash speed (all numbers recorded at UTK Pro Day). Comparing those numbers to other prospects in the 2023 draft class, Trueheart has the same size as Tucker Kraft, the same vertical as Darnell Washington, and runs the same 40 as Michael Mayer.

With those measurables, it's easy to see why an NFL team may be inclined to give him a shot. It's safe to say TSU head coach and Titans legend Eddie George would agree. George gave Mike Organ the following endorsement of Trueheart:

"It's a great sign the Titans have shown so much interest in Josh and given him these opportunities," George said told Organ. "I think they've seen what we saw in him in terms of his size, his ability to run; he's a big body that runs a 4.7 or 4.6. He's had some good coaching the last couple of years that we've had him. Another good trait is that he is able to snap the ball at that size. He's proven he can be an asset."

The Titans got a good look at Trueheart's ability to snap during their workout with him. After getting some work in at tight end and showing off his route tree, Tennessee worked Trueheart out at long snapper.

Trueheart has previously worked out with Titans quarterbacks Ryan Tannehill and Malik Willis during offseason sessions at the TSU indoor facility. The Nashville native will have that working in his favor as well when the Titans make decisions in the draft and undrafted free agent period.
