The last thing former Tennessee tight end Miles Kitselman needed just happened in Lions training camp
Former Tennessee Vols tight end Miles Kitselman is hoping to make the Detroit Lions’ 53-man roster during training camp.
Former Tennessee Vols tight end Miles Kitselman is hoping to make the Detroit Lions’ 53-man roster after landing with the team as an undrafted free agent earlier this spring.
Kitselman generated some early buzz in training camp after earning some first-team reps on day one.
“Miles Kitselman got some first-team reps at tight end during drills,” noted AtoZ Sports’ Mike Payton last week. “Likely because Tyler Conklin was out. But that’s still a big deal.”
Unfortunately, Kitselman suffered an apparent leg injury on Sunday and left practice to be evaluated.
The hope is that it’s nothing serious for Kitselman, but any missed time will seriously hurt his chances of making the Lions’ 53-man roster out of camp.
Kitselman, who started his college career at Hutchinson Community College before transferring to Alabama, spent his final two seasons at Tennessee.
The former Vol totaled 50 receptions for 572 yards and six touchdowns during his time on Rocky Top. Kitselman dealt with a knee injury late last season that caused him to miss Tennessee’s games against Florida and Vanderbilt (he returned for the Vols’ matchup against Illinois in the Music City Bowl).
Update:
It’s not good for Kitselman as Lions head coach Dan Campbell said on Monday morning that the former Vol will be out for a while.
