The New Orleans Saints have two picks in the top 40 of this year's NFL Draft.
They'll pick at pick 29 as well as pick 40. With their second selection, they'll have plenty of avenues to go.
In the latest ESPN mock draft by Todd McShay and Mel Kiper Jr., the Saints made a mistake in the second round, though.
New Orleans went with a very raw prospect at tight end with pick number 40. They selected Oregon State TE Luke Musgrave.
McShay's pick: Luke Musgrave, TE, Oregon State
Derek Carr loved targeting Darren Waller in Las Vegas, so I'm excited about landing Carr another tight end with great physical traits in New Orleans. Musgrave is a bit of a projection since he missed 10 games last season and didn't have a ton of college production, but he has speed and a wide catch radius.
Musgrave is an intriguing physical presence at tight end, but the Saints just locked up a similar style of TE in Juwan Johnson to a new deal.
The Saints would be better off investing a round three or later selection at TE if they miss out on one of the top three in the class early on in the process.
They could use more depth behind Johnson, but the addition of Musgrave doesn't make too much sense. Not to mention, the value isn't great so early in the second round.
