Titans wine and dine "dominant" offensive line prospect ahead of 2023 NFL Draft
Tennessee Titans reportedly have dinner with top interior offensive line prospect before his Pro Day workout.
Tennessee Titans GM Ran Carthon was one of many NFL executives in Gainesville this week for the Florida Gators' Pro Day.
Carthon returned to his alma mater to get a look at some of the top talent in the 2023 NFL Draft, including quarterback Anthony Richardson and interior offensive lineman O'Cyrus Torrence.
According to a report from Tom Pelissero, Tennessee expressed serious interest in Torrence, taking him out to dinner the night before the Pro Day.
Torrence has a legitimate chance to be selected in the first round of this year's draft. He allowed just eight pressures over the course of the entire 2022 season, and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the top interior offensive lineman in his class.
At 6-foot-5 and 347 pounds, Torrence's size is atypical for an NFL guard. For a man of his stature, Torrence has a remarkable ability to stay balanced and overpower defenders. That's why he seems destined to be the first guard weighing 340 or more pounds taken in the first two rounds of the draft in over a decade.
"I'm the most dominant interior offensive lineman in the draft," Torrence told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero during his Pro Day.
The Titans currently have a clear hole at left guard that Torrence would slot into very nicely. The fit is a no brainer. What's intriguing about the Titans' expressed interest in him, however, is whether or not they would legitimately consider drafting him 11th overall.
Torrence will probably be a late first or early second round pick. 11 overall is reach, but I'd be surprised if he's still on the board at 41 when Tennessee picks again.
Perhaps he would make more sense for the Titans in a scenario where they trade down in the first round and still select a player that can be an impactful, Week 1 starter on their offensive line.
