The Texans are just days away from adding several talented young players in the 2023 NFL Draft. In addition to these rookies, the team is welcoming in another player after a lost 2022 season.

Per Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk, John Metchie III is on the field at the Texans' offseason program. This is an encouraging sign after the young receiver missed his entire rookie season after receiving a cancer diagnosis.

The practice is closed to media, but the team's social media accounts have been sharing pictures.

Metchie was the 44th-overall pick by the Houston Texans in the 2022 NFL Draft but unfortunately announced just months later that he was diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia. Metchie did not play in his rookie season but seems to be healthy now.

If Metchie is ready to go, he could provide a big boost to the offense in Houston. Four of the Texans' top five receivers from 2022 have joined new teams, so Metchie will play a big role in 2023.

Metchie had a fantastic college career at Alabama, capped off with 96 catches for 1,142 yards in 2021. This impressive campaign led to Metchie being selected in the second round, even after coming off of a serious injury.

Metchie joins Nico Collins, Noah Brown, and Robert Woods as the top receivers on the roster currently. Of course, the team is also expected to add to the room in the draft. Regardless, it is fantastic to see Metchie getting healthy and we look forward to seeing him on the field in 2023.
