With a selection in the top 12 of this year's NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans have the capital to capture premium talent in this year's class.
Therefore, they cannot afford to fumble the bag at pick eleven. In Chad Reuter's latest mock draft, the Titans made a peculiar selection. Tennessee picked Florida interior offensive lineman O'Cyrus Torrence.
Torrence provides brute force up front in the run game, which should intrigue the run-first Titans — and yet, his nimble feet belie his 330-pound frame. — Reuter
The pick by the Titans is a head scratcher for multiple reasons. At the basis, Torrence was the first offensive lineman selected in this scenario. As an interior player, he went before any of the top three offensive tackles. That doesn't make much sense for any team – let alone the Titans who need another starting OT.
Additionally, Torrence is widely expected to go in round one. That being said, it is normally somewhere in the 20's, rather than in the top twelve picks. He doesn't provide any versatility as a tackle, and that is a bigger need for the Titans and many other teams.
If the first ten picks go how Reuter projected, the Titans would have their selection of any OT in the class. All three of which outright Torrence as an overall prospect right now. Peter Skoronski, Paris Johnson Jr., and Broderick Jones would all make more sense for Tennessee rather than Torrence.
