The New Orleans Saints have a new quarterback! No, it isn't just Derek Carr. There's now another new guy on the block as a signal caller for the Saints.
New Orleans just drafted Fresno State QB Jake Haener in round four of the 2023 NFL draft. This is a special pick for a multitude of reasons.
One major reason is Haener's connection to Carr. Carr also attended Fresno State during his collegiate days. Additionally, he has already been mentoring Haener, and he talked to the rookie QB on the phone today.
Carr is the starter for at least the next two seasons in New Orleans. Could Haener replace him at some point? There is potential there.
Regardless, it is awesome to see the Saints draft a player with a strong relationship with their current QB. Carr will play a massive role in the development of Haener.
