The summer of extensions is upon the Cincinnati Bengals. Joe Burrow and Tee Higgins' representation are in the process of inking major deals for both stars to stick around in Cincy for the long run.

There's another major member of team's 2020 NFL Draft class who's also in line to get paid a year early.

Linebacker Logan Wilson has been a crucial starter during the team's resurgence back into the NFL limelight. The third-round pick from three years ago has quickly become the defense's on-field manager, the "quarterback" of that side of the ball, if you will.

With a critical fourth year on the horizon for the 26-year old, Wilson is locked in, but is hopeful for an agreement to be reached between him and the team. Wilson told reporters Monday morning that extension talks have occurred between both sides, along with a positive update on his previously-injured shoulder.

Health is a key factor for Wilson's long-term future with the team. He suffered a torn labrum back in 2021 and had surgery to repair it last year. He would go on to re-injure that same shoulder during the 2022 season and missed one game because of it.

Wilson went on to have, by far, the best season of his young career. Pro Football Focus graded him out at 74.6 overall and 74.0 in coverage. Only three other players logged more coverage snaps (668) for the Bengals' entire 19-game year in the regular season and playoffs.

Wilson's impact in the Bengals' pass defense is huge, and just another key reason why he's in the team's long-term plans. Keeping him around would also keep both starting linebackers in the fold for the next few years. Fellow starter Germaine Pratt signed a three-year contract back in March.

In three years with the Bengals, Wilson has amassed 256 tackles, seven interceptions, and 4.5 sacks in the regular season alone. He also played out of his mind in Super Bowl LVI, only for it to be overshadowed by a phantom holding penalty at the end of the game.
