If there was one person on the Detroit Lions within the past decade that deserved to be on a team like this one, it was Calvin Johnson.
Johnson's teams were downright-terrible with poor coaching trees that essentially never had this currently level of hype surrounding their team.
All the talent in the world can't help when you're basically by yourself in football.
Johnson wasn't able to single-handedly carry his teams to a high level of success, but the good news for Lions fans is all those years of pain should be coming to a close.
The Lions are projected to make the playoffs and actually be a very frisky team to make a deeper run in the playoffs if they play their cards right, and even Calvin Johnson recognizes what is cooking in Detroit.
Johnson likes this team, their chances, and their ability to fix some of the mistakes from the past under Dan Campbell, and honestly, who wouldn't?
Jared Goff is playing well, the offense should remain one of the best in the NFL, and the defense was able to address almost every need in the first few weeks of free agency.
There is a lot to like about this Lions team, and a huge part of that comes down to the guys Johnson singled out (Campbell and Brad Holmes).
The future is bright in Detroit. Let's just hope the team is able to meet the fast-growing expectations of legends of the franchise and the fans who deserve a change.
