It will be a little difficult to perfectly predict what the Philadelphia Eagles will do in the 2023 NFL Draft, but there is enough data out there that at least helps one take a stab in the dark at what they will do.
You can probably already rule out some of the main positions, and that much at least helps, but there are a ton of directions this front office can go if they want to win now and win down the road.
In a twist that shouldn't surprise many, the Eagles should be prime candidates to trade up in the first round if they find themselves with the right opportunity.
The team obviously won't be in on the sweepstakes for a quarterback with one of the top picks, and while there should be a run on corners that will line up perfectly with where the Eagles are making their first selection, one player makes a ton of sense to join this roster that could require a bit more investment to secure.
Defensive lineman Jalen Carter may be the most polarizing player in this class, but it is hard to deny that he wouldn't be one of the best picks in years for the Eagles.
Unbelievable talent makes Carter an obvious player to go early in the first round, but a few incidents outside of football could have him fall outside of the top-five if the cards fall in the right way.
Carter slipping to five or six in a quarterback-heavy class does make some sense, but betting on Carter to be available at ten when the Eagles pick feels like a long shot.
If Philadelphia truly wants to add the stud defensive lineman to help secure that side of the ball for a long time to come, counting on a major slip may be too much of a risk.
You have a guy you want? Put your money where your mouth is.
There are plenty of teams that make a lot of sense as trade-up locations (see the Lions), and a move like that wouldn't require the Eagles to give up too much to secure a player that fits with them like a glove.
With few immediate needs and an obvious fit with a young superstar, don't rule the Eagles out on anything when the night actually begins.
