After their first pick that did little to impress, the Detroit Lions needed a big second pick in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft to get back on track and focus on a return to the playoffs.

Jaymyr Gibbs was the first player to hear his name called by the Lions, and now Iowa linebacker Jack Campbell will join a team that has a huge hole at the position.

Campbell was a stud during his time at Iowa and makes a compelling case as the best linebacker in the class. This works well for a Lions team that is in need of an immediate starter at the position to get the defense back on track. Campbell should check that box rather easily.

The Lions have now wrapped up their selections in the first round, but rest assured that they will have plenty of picks coming up on Day Two after making numerous moves to stockpile assets to make it back to the playoffs.
