We all know that the New Orleans Saints have a style in the draft. In the 2023 NFL Draft, that hasn't changed. According to reports, the Saints tried to make an aggressive move.
New Orleans were in talks with the Minnesota Vikings to try to trade up from 29 to pick 23.
This shouldn't surprise anyone as the Saints and Vikings often do draft weekend deals, and both teams had some interest in getting a deal done again. That being said, Minnesota chose to stay put and take USC WR Jordan Addison.
It's unlikely that the Saints were in on Addison due to his lackluster physical traits in comparison to some of his counterparts. He had an RAS score just below 6, and the Saints normally do not target those type of players in the first round.
New Orleans could have been looking to move up to secure a defensive lineman (Bryan Bresee or Myles Murphy) or a tight end like Dalton Kincaid.
A trade didn't happen, but the Saints were trying to secure their guy.
