There aren’t many opponents that strike fear into the eyes of Vikings star receiver Justin Jefferson. However, there is one team that has gotten the best of Minnesota over the last three seasons.
The Dallas Cowboys have been a thorn in the Vikings’ side lately. Dallas’ 40-3 win in Week 10 marked their third straight victory over the Vikes. Jefferson and Cowboys LB Micah parsons took part in an interview to discuss the budding rivalry ahead of Sunday’s inaugural Pro Bowl Games.
When asked if there was one defensive back in the league that Jefferson would like to face head on, he didn’t hesitate.
“I mean every time we play the Cowboys their D-Line is always getting to us a little faster than normal,” Jefferson said with Parsons to his left. “We don’t have that much time to really run routes and get the ball like that. So (Trevon) Diggs is always on that level to go up against him every time.”
Before Jefferson could finish his thought Parsons jokingly interrupted him saying, “I know why,” insinuating Dallas’ recent success on defense.
“It is what it is,” Jefferson said while grabbing the interviewer’s microphone. “I’m gonna get a taste of everybody in the league and I know everybody is gonna want a taste of me too. Talking on my back, we’re gonna ride on it. We ain’t worried about the talk. We gonna see (the Cowboys). They’re probably gonna come back to our stadium like normal. We gotta switch it up. They’ve been beating us, but we gonna come through. That was one time. It won’t happen again.”
While this is mostly friendly banter, it’s clear that the Cowboys frustrated Jefferson and the Vikings offense in their last meeting. These two could meet each other in the playoffs down the road, which would make for great entertainment, especially after Jefferson’s remarks.
