One of the biggest questions surrounding the New Orleans Saints this off-season is the situation with former head coach Sean Payton.

Payton remains under contract with the Saints, but he is looking to move on from the Saints. New Orleans must find a new landing spot for the impressive offensive mind, and we now know the price that a team will have to pay for Payton.

Payton was on Colin Cowherd's show earlier today and mentioned his conversation with Saints GM Mickey Loomis.

He disclosed that the expected compensation for the Saints will be a mid or later first-round pick.

This shouldn't be surprising. The Saints have said from the beginning that a first-round pick was the starting price for Payton's services.

Now, we know that the pick probably won't be in the top ten. A couple of the suitors own a pick that early, but it seems unlikely that they will move it for the veteran HC.

The Cardinals pick third, and the Panthers pick ninth. Houston picks second and twelfth. All three have interest in Payton.

Accordingly, it seems like the Broncos have the lead in the race to secure Payton. Their pick is actually the 49ers', who are still in the playoffs. That pick will be in the late 20's at minimum.

Of course, there is a chance that a deal gets worked out for one of the earlier picks or a future first-rounder, but that seems less likely as of right now.

This situation for the Saints will pick up even more steam over the next week.
