The Denver Broncos recently released defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero from his contract.

It was one of Sean Payton's first moves as head coach, but it sounded like both sides wanted a fresh start. Evero was very close with former Broncos HC Nathaniel Hackett. After his firing, he was spent to a new job elsewhere.

Evero also recover multiple head coach interviews throughout the last few weeks. That didn't come to fruition, but he's getting a pay raise, regardless.

Evero is the new defensive coordinator of the Carolina Panthers.

After the Broncos made him available, Carolina swooped in to land him as their DC under new HC Frank Reich.

Evero is an exciting, young play caller on defense that should continue to flourish in Carolina. The Panthers have a plethora of youthful talent on their defensive unit – similarly to the Broncos.

For Denver, it is a big hole to fill. There are a few candidates that make the most sense, but they must dial this decision.

After hiring Sean Payton, they clearly believe that they contend in the short term. Landing another impressive DC will be a key building block for the future in Denver.
