The Pittsburgh Steelers had quite the quarterback situation last season.

Ultimately, rookie Kenny Pickett emerged as the clear preferred and more talented starter over Mitchell Trubisky. That being said, some murmurs emerged today regarding Trubisky's benching during the season.

Many felt that it was solely due to his struggles and the team's overall below average performances on offense.

Gregg Giannotti reported that that was not the sole situation with the benching of Trubisky.

He added that Steelers wide receiver Deontae Johnson punched Trubisky in the face during practice. That was another "reason" that they sat the veteran QB, according to him.

Clearly, that was not the case as Trubisky quickly shot down that idea on social media.

Folks should probably trust Trubisky on this one.

He is slated to be the backup in Pittsburgh once again. The team appreciates his leadership, even when he isn't the starter. Kenny Pickett is the starter for the Steelers, and they believe he is their future at QB.

Only time will tell, but Trubisky confirmed that he did not get punched and benched in the same week last season. So, that's a victory in itself for both Trubisky and the Steelers.
