The Buffalo Bills' season ended in devastating fashion after their playoff loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Since then, outside of fans clamoring for sweeping changes, there has been a narrative that this team's Super Bowl window has been slammed shut.
With premiere players being due for new contracts and the team not living up to expectations, there has been more negative than positive surrounding this team.
However, a recent development from the NFL may just destroy that narrative and help prove that this Bills team is still very much in contention moving forward.
Huge development
Recently, it was announced of a new type of All-Pro that is decided by the players. This list includes virtually every position and provides a top-five ranking for each individual position.
Taking a quick look, there are a lot of Bills players who crack the top five at their position. Josh Allen, Mitch Morse, Stefon Diggs, and Tyler Bass to name a few.
If the Buffalo Bills' shot at a Super Bowl is slammed shut, then why do they have what is considered to be so many top-five players at their respective positions?
The foundation is there
Having a top-five center, wide receiver, quarterback, linebacker and safety is more than a cornerstone for a dominant, Super Bowl-caliber team.
Yes, the Buffalo Bills haven't lived up to expectations and have been bounced from the playoffs much earlier than fans and analytical gurus were hoping. Nevertheless, the team is still chock-full of talent.
Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott have completely reshaped what playing football looks like and means in Western New York. With three consecutive AFC East crowns along with playoff birth after playoff birth, the team is set up for success long term.
While there may be some question marks surrounding the team, the base is there for the team to experience long-term success.
It's not going to be easy, but winning a Super Bowl never is. Bills Mafia should like their chances.
