Buffalo Bills star safety Micah Hyde didn't suit up for gameday last Sunday as his team failed to advance to the AFC Championship Game by falling to the Cincinnati Bengals.

From the sidelines, he had a first-row view at his team taking a tough loss in the Buffalo snow while the Bengals left no doubt that even if Hyde had played in that game, the outcome would've been exactly the same. Cincinnati simply played better in all phases of the game.

"Throughout the years you realize how crucial and how detailed you have to be in the playoffs," Micah Hyde told reporters on Monday.

Unfortunately, the Bills weren't any of that in the Divisional Round.

When asked about the lack of energy shown in the playoff game that sent the team home, Hyde had a painfully accurate answer.

"We got beat yesterday," the Bills safety said. "We felt like we definitely got beat all around. When a team is doing that to you there's not going to be a bunch of energy a bunch of juice."

In what was expected to be a showdown favoring the Bills as the Bengals limped into the showdown with three backup offensive linemen, they didn't even generate a moment to spark some sort of motivation on the sidelines.

"There weren't too many plays for us to be able to get excited and get up and get off the bench and really talk about it," Hyde commented about the Bills' spirits while down on the scoreboard. "I think when that is happening there's going to be a little bit of low energy."

"Do I feel like before the game there was low energy? No, not at all. I feel like guys were ready to go."

The Bills safety reached the only conclusion left to take away from the performance.

"We got outplayed by them. We've got to live with it, you've got to watch it, you've got to learn from it and move on."

Micah Hyde will remember the Bills' season beyond the playoff loss

Despite his injury, Hyde consistently showed up at the Bills' facilities and did his best to be a part of the team even if he couldn't take the field. He revealed that it was a very important year for him as he learned more about his teammates from watching them work and got close to more players.

But the year will leave a chip on Hyde's shoulder as he continues his career with the Bills. His absence on the field diminished his teammate's chances of getting a deal.

"Number one I wanted to help (Jordan Poyer) get a new deal. Within the locker room guys want to see other guys get paid."

"There was more on Po's shoulders this year than any other year of us being here. I kind of felt like I let him down just in the sense of getting hurt."

Hyde also revealed he was medically cleared to play in the AFC Championship Game had the Bills advanced.
