The New Orleans Saints' Sean Payton saga has been going on for awhile now.
People are ready to know if he will be traded or not during this off-season. Luckily for them, it sounds like a decision may be coming soon.
The Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals have both shown interest in Payton and still need a head coach. Reports surfaced last week that the Broncos may be moving on from Payton, but that does not seem to be the case.
The Broncos have narrowed down their candidates, but it's been pretty quiet on the Sean Payton front.
Some reports say that they are looking elsewhere, while some others believe that Payton is not as interested as he once was. Regardless, there's no known answer for the Broncos and Payton quite yet.
For the Cardinals, Payton still looks to be a strong candidate.
There hasn't been a lot of chatter as of late regarding their opening, though. They may be waiting for the games this weekend to finish up in order to interview more candidates. Only time will tell.
Today, Payton unveiled that a lot of updates on his situation and the entire coaching carousel could come during this next week.
That would be ideal for the Saints.
According to recent reports, Saints general manager Mickey Loomis may be starting negotiations at two first-round picks rather than just one. He is looking to get as much as possible for the former Saints HC.
If that doesn't happen, a first-round pick along with a middle-round selection could be the compensation for Payton.
The discussions for the offensive guru don't seem to be going away quite yet.
The Broncos are reportedly interested in Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon and Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan, too. 49ers DC DeMeco Ryans is a candidate as well.
They, along with Payton, seem to be in the running, but their teams are still playing in the postseason.
