The Miami Dolphins added one of the best veteran defensive play-callers in football to their staff this past week. Vic Fangio is their new defensive coordinator.
Fangio is a very well-respected defensive mind around the league, and he made plenty of sense for Miami.
His scheme will help players like Christian Wilkins, Bradley Chubb, and others to flourish.
Those players, along with with a couple of others, were actually the reason that Fangio chose to join the Dolphins over other options.
Fangio also said that he is not considering retirement. Accordingly, it sounds like he will be the DC for the Dolphins for the foreseeable future.
Getting the experience of Fangio is really important for Miami. They have plenty of young talent that can truly reach their potential under Fangio.
The talent on the defensive side of the ball for Miami is way too impressive to see another season-long performance like last year. Fangio will be tasked with preventing that.
It sounds like he is locked in, and the Dolphins defense will make strides in 2023.
