The Tennessee Vols have had another one of their former coaches ascend the ranks of the gridiron over the years.

This time, it is Jim Bob Cooter. Cooter is a former player and coach for the Vols, and he has climbed the ranks of the NFL over the past decade.

Now, the Indianapolis Colts are hiring him to be their new offensive coordinator.

Cooter began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Tennessee from 2007-2008. that came after his playing days with the Vols where he was a backup quarterback.

After a short coaching stint with the Volunteers, he was off to the NFL where he started his time at the pro level in Indianapolis.

Over the years, he has worked with a plethora of NFL teams as an offensive assistant. Cooter has had multiple titles, including QBs coach, RBs coach, and offensive coordinator.

His latest tenure was with the Jacksonville Jaguars last year.

The Colts hope that the former Vols assistant can help improve their offense that has seen struggles over the past couple of seasons.
