The Detroit Lions have come to an agreement with starting defensive tackle Isaiah Buggs.

Detroit is re-signing Buggs to a two-year deal worth up to $6 million, per Tom Pelissero.

Buggs came over to Detroit last offseason after spending his first three years in the league with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played in all 17 games in 2022, logging 13 starts, and recorded 46 tackles, one sack and a forced fumble.’

Buggs was a stout defender against the run in the middle of the Lions’ defense. Now that Buggs is returning to the Motor City, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Detroit continue to bolster its defensive front through free agency and the draft.

It’s important to take care of the in-house guys first with the NFL’s free agency period officially getting underway on March 15. Checking off one important box is a good start for the Lions’ front office to kick off the busiest week in the offseason.
