Saints re-sign Blake Gillikin
The Saints bring back one of their own.
The New Orleans Saints are keeping another one of their own. They are re-signing punter Blake Gillian to a new deal. He will be their punter for the foreseeable future after a couple of solid seasons.
His first year in New Orleans was special. Last year saw more inconsistencies, but he is primed for a resurgence this season for the Saints.
For folks interested in player numbers and jerseys, Gillikin has given number four to new Saints QB Derek Carr.
It is unknown what number the punter will wear going forward for New Orleans.
The Saints were middle-of-the-pack in punting last season.
That being said, in 2021, Gillikin was one of the top punters in the NFL when it came to average punt distance. Pinning teams inside the 20 will be something that he can improve on going forward.
He is an important piece to the special teams unit for the Saints, and fans will be happy to have him back.
