Former Saints star is joining two old friends
He knows them from New Orleans.
One former New Orleans Saints star on defense is joining a couple of coaches that he met during his time in The Big Easy. Safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson is headed to the Detroit Lions.
He will play for Dan Campbell and Aaron Glenn. Campbell is their head coach, while Glenn is their defensive coordinator.
Both coaches coached Gardner-Johnson during his time in New Orleans.
Gardner-Johnson is an emotional player. Campbell is an emotional coach. That being said, it'll be an interesting dynamic with him as his HC.
CGJ had some great seasons with the Saints with those two coaches on staff, so he could be a key piece for the Lions going forward.
They had a surprisingly impressive season last year the few people expected. Now, they have even more talent.
Gardner-Johnson spent last season with the Philadelphia Eagles after beginning his career in New Orleans. The Saints traded him before the last season began due to contract issues and conflict within the team/staff.
