The New Orleans Saints will look a lot different offensively in 2023 with Derek Carr taking over quarterback duties and guys like running back Jamaal Williams and wide receiver Bryan Edwards being signed in free agency also.
Speaking of the open market, the Saints took that route to add another receiver on Monday to go with stealing A.T. Perry in the sixth round of the NFL Draft. Per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, New Orleans has signed veteran James Washington to a one-year deal.
Washington sign a one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys last year. Unfortunately, he broke his foot in training camp. Washington only appeared in two games and logged just 15 offensive snaps while compiling a blank stat sheet.
After being released in January, Washington was signed to the practice squad of the New York Giants just before their playoff win against the Minnesota Vikings. However, his contract expired once their season ended less than two weeks later.
Before all of that, Washington spent four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers and put up 114 receptions for 1,629 yards and 11 touchdowns. Washington has been versatile during his career with 375 snaps registered in the slot to go with 1,146 on the outside.
This won't move the needle, but it's a solid depth pickup for the Saints.
