OTAs didn't start off so hot for the Seattle Seahawks, thanks to the news regarding Tariq Woolen's arthroscopic surgery. But, his outlook has a different feel to it after Pete Carroll spoke with the media on Thursday.

“It was really an unusual occurrence. He didn't have a play where he got hurt," Carroll explained to reporters. "He was in between plays, getting ready to go get lined up and he felt something. It wasn't bad. Then before the play started, he sat down and he felt something was wrong. Fortunately, everything went great. If you see him, he's getting around terrific already. It's hopefully a four-to-six-week type of deal. His attitude has been great. He never really accepted it when it happened. It was such a weird occurrence that he just took it in stride and has been really positive about it. We should be able to get him back soon.”

The typical recovery time associate with Woolen's surgery is around 6-8 weeks. But, obviously Carroll's timeline would be much better. Either way, Woolen should be good to go by the time training camp starts, which was initially expected.

Carroll also confirmed the issue is a cartilage issue.

“It's cartilage, yeah," he said.

That's obviously great news for the Seahawks, who need Woolen to build off a very impressive rookie year. The Seahawks offense should be improved, or at least the same as it was last year. But, the defense has some big questions after a pretty disappointing 2022 campaign.

Outside Woolen, of course.
