After a breakout season in 2021, the Lions were expecting big things from starting safety Tracy Walker in 2022. Sadly those expectations were dashed when Walker suffered a torn Achilles against the Vikings in Week 3.
You never know when it comes to an injury liek a torn Achilles. We've seen many updates from Walker since the injury and have been able to gauge his progress in that time. In May he said he should be cleared by training camp. Per his Instagram, we've found out that he is indeed cleared for training camp as of today.
The writing has been mostly on the wall. Walker did participate in activities during OTA's and Mandatory mini camp. So this comes as no surprise that he'll be ready to go for the Lions once training camp opens up at the end of July.
This is very good news for a secondary that's already had a tremendous showing and is taking hold of some leadership in the Lions culture. He's already started to form a fun relationship with C.J. Gardner Johnson and Kerby Joseph. This group has a chance to be a real threat to opposing teams from the safety position.
Walker has been with the Lions since 2018 and really started to break out in 2021 season to the point where he was considered a leader in the Lions locker room. Getting him back his a huge win for the Lions.
