The New York Giants will have tough decisions to make in a mere matter of weeks.
Come August, the current 90-man roster will be trimmed to 53, meaning there could be more than a few surprising roster cuts.
One of them could come from a unit that needed all the help it could get last year, but after some improvements to the CB room, this player's services may no longer be needed:
Darnay Holmes, CB

Holmes was the Giants' starting nickel or slot corner last year, yet I recently projected him to not even be on the team come September. Patricia Traina of Giants Country on SI seemingly agrees, saying:
The Giants appear loaded at cornerback, where the big competition to watch will be for the slot role. I think Holmes, who has held the job since being drafted, could be in trouble. Between his inconsistency last year and his nearly $3 million cap hit, plus the fact that the Giants have other options for the slot, I could see them moving in a different direction, especially since they have other options who can play the role and allow the coaching staff to play better match-up football.-Patricia Traina, SI

The slot corner position is one of the most important in all of football now, especially given the way teams move around their best pass-catchers. Whoever comes out on top will have to be game-ready, so there is a chance that Holmes' experience keeps him around, with another team surely to come calling if not.
