Gardner-Johnson was taken off the field Sunday and you could see that he was keeping his arm straight and favoring one side of his body. While he did go back in the game for a little bit, it wasn't long.
This is a tough blow for this defense. The Lions spent a lot of money on their secondary during the offseason and now they will be without their biggest signing of free agency. To top it off, Emmanuel Moseley hasn't even taken the field yet.
The good thing here is that the Lions have some depth at safety in Tracy Walker. He was one of the best defensive players on the team for while and now he'll go back to that role.
The Lions are about to have at least five open roster spots soon. I'm sure Gardner-Johnson will head to the IR. I don't know what they'll do to fill them. But they need to act fast, because there's a lot of season left and the Lions need to get back on track after a tough loss.
Gardner-Johnson's Instagram post seems to confirm the worst.
