Sunday's matchup between the Cincinnati Bengals and Arizona Cardinals is looking like it will be played without star receiver Tee Higgins. The Bengals' fourth-year pass catcher missed his second straight practice Thursday afternoon as he recovers from a rib fracture.
Higgins told reporters it's ultimately up to him managing through the pain in order to play, but that process could take a week before he's able to suit up. If he misses Friday's practice, he will likely be declared out for Sunday.
Joining Higgins as a DNP for two practices in a row is linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither is (knee), who missed last week's game against the Tennessee Titans as well. Davis-Gaither's injury prompted the team to claim linebacker Devin Harper off waivers last week. Harper was a healthy scratch last Sunday.
On the bright side, cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt (concussion) is progressing through the concussion protocol and practiced Thursday. He missed Wednesday's session after suffering his concussion against the Titans.
Left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. (groin) was also out participating in practice after being listed as limited Wednesday. That obviously bodes well for him suiting up Sunday. Tight end Irv Smith Jr. (hamstring) and Brown were both full participants Thursday after each were limited Wednesday.
Cornerback Chidobe Awuzie popped up on Thursday's report not for rest, but with a back injury that had him limited.
